03.22.2024 World Water Day - EPS SAVES THE MOST PRECIOUS COMMODITY: WATER

The Water Footprint of a product is a multidimensional indicator that expresses the measure of the total volume of freshwater used directly or indirectly to make a product or service.
It is assessed by considering water use at all stages of the production chain (from manufacturing to marketing, use and consumption, recycling and disposal), i.e. throughout its life cycle.
The water footprint of EPS was measured by AIPE, comparing it with the different materials used today to make packaging: EPS was found to have the absolute lowest water footprint, with only 6 litres of water used for one kilogram of product.

Furthermore, EPS packaging made from recycled materials can have a lower water footprint than that made from virgin materials; polystyrene is also much better performing and environmentally friendly in this respect.
